We all know celebs and social media can have a fickle relationship. There are a lot of haters out there, no matter who you are, and a lot of people seem to think they can just hate on celebs on social media without repercussion. But cyber-bullying is never okay. And last week, after a slew of negative comments about his dating life, Justin Bieber DELETED his Instagram account.
Okay, this might not seem like huge news, but, GUYS. Justin Bieber is a celebrity who was MADE by social media. Sure enough, it was his YouTube videos that made him strike it big, and he was recently ranked by SocialBlade as the 7th most popular Instagram user IN THE WORLD. So, yes, this is noteworthy.
The Biebs warned users that he would take action if they didn’t stop negative talk about his supposed relationship with Sofia Richie, the 17-year-old model and daughter of singer Lionel Richie. He wrote, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like”. A bit later, after a strange, air-the-dirty-laundry back-and-forth with former girlfriend Selena Gomez, he deleted the account altogether.
And now, I can’t take it with the hinting. Yesterday, on Twitter, he posted a cryptic message “Should I or Shouldn’t I?”, leading “Beliebers” into a frenzy, assuming he was referencing restarting his Instagram. What do you guys think? Will he stay off Instagram for long? Was this a good move by Justin, or an overreaction?
